Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector II to inspect structural steel, pipe, and fabricated welds at shops and on site. You will sign inspection reports and witness welder qualification tests while coordinating with engineers and the building official.

Minimum requirement is a current AWS CWI with 2+ years of inspection; D1.1 experience and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104. Travel and per diem may apply.

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI with 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Experience with AWS D1.1 and one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• ICC structural steel and bolting certification preferred (sponsored if not held).
• Able to defend a rejection to a fabricator and document it for retest.

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspection with accept/reject authority.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records.
• Witness welder performance qualification tests.
• Direct and interpret nondestructive testing; write reports and NCRs.
• Inspect fabrication shops and field erection; sign inspection reports.
