Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Welding Inspector I to work under a Certified Welding Inspector on structural steel and pipe welding. You will verify fit-up, check WPS compliance, perform visual inspection, and maintain inspection records to support CWI decisions.

The role requires familiarity with AWS D1.1 or equivalent codes, ability to read weld symbols and WPS/PQR documents, and readiness to work at height on active sites. The company sponsors AWS CWI exam for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• CAWI eligibility or 3+ years welding/inspection experience
• Reads structural drawings, weld symbols, and WPS/PQR documents
• Able to work at height and in confined spaces on active sites
• Careful, honest, and consistent in assessing weld quality

Responsibilities

• Verify joint fit-up, preheat, and WPS compliance before and during welding
• Perform visual weld inspection under supervision to AWS D1.1, D1.5, or governing code
• Confirm welder qualifications, consumables control, and equipment calibration records
• Maintain weld maps, inspection logs, and daily reports
• Flag rejectable indications for CWI disposition
• Coordinate nondestructive testing (UT, MT, PT) with NDT technician and record results
