Job summary

Novax Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) for an established structural steel shop in New York. You will inspect steel, bridges and heavy fabrication, ensuring compliance with AWS D1.1 and D1.5 and WPSs, working closely with welders, supervisors, production and quality teams.

The role offers a solid project pipeline, a permanent shop-based position, and opportunities to take on meaningful responsibility within the quality operation while collaborating

Qualifications

• Structural steel fabrication / welding inspection experience.
• Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1.
• D1.5 / bridge fabrication experience is a plus.
• Ability to read structural drawings, welding symbols and WPSs.
• Strong understanding of fabrication and welding processes.
• NDT experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Inspect structural steel, bridge components and welded assemblies.
• Carry out visual weld inspections (VT).
• Ensure compliance with AWS D1.1 / D1.5 and approved WPSs.
• Review drawings, welding symbols and project specifications.
• Inspect fit-up, weld preparation and completed welds.
• Identify non-conformances and help drive corrective action.
• Maintain accurate inspection and quality documentation.
• Support NDT activities including UT, MT, PT and RT where required.
• Work with production teams to maintain quality and reduce rework.

This is a shop-based opportunity with a business that is continuing to invest in its people, production capabilities and quality systems.

You'll play a key role in making sure complex steelwork is fabricated to the required standards - working closely with welders, supervisors, production and quality teams.

What You'll Be Doing

• Inspect structural steel, bridge components and welded assemblies
