Novax Recruitment Ltd. has a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) role in Western New York, offering up to $95,000 plus overtime. This shop-based position focuses on structural steel, bridges and heavy fabrication projects.

You will inspect structural steel, bridge components and welded assemblies, review drawings and welding symbols, and ensure compliance with AWS D1.1 and D1.5 with WPSs. You’ll work with welders, supervisors, and quality teams to ensure top workmanship.

Qualifications

• AWS CWI certification required
• Experience inspecting structural steel fabrication / welding
• Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1 welding code
• D1.5 / bridge fabrication experience a plus
• Ability to read structural drawings and welding symbols
• NDT experience desirable

Responsabilités

• Inspect structural steel, bridge components and welded assemblies
• Carry out visual weld inspections (VT)
• Ensure compliance with AWS D1.1 / D1.5 and approved WPSs
• Review drawings, welding symbols and project specifications
• Inspect fit-up, weld preparation and completed welds
• Identify non-conformances and drive corrective action
• Maintain inspection and quality documentation
• Support NDT activities (UT, MT, PT, RT) as required
• Collaborate with production teams to maintain quality and reduce rework

This is a shop-based opportunity with a business that is continuing to invest in its people, production capabilities and quality systems.

You'll play a key role in making sure complex steelwork is fabricated to the required standards - working closely with welders, supervisors, production and quality teams.

What You'll Be Doing

• Inspect structural steel, bridge components and welded assemblies
• Carry out visual weld inspections (VT)
• Ensure compliance with AWS D1.1 / D1.5 and approved WPSs
• Review drawings, welding symbols and project specifications
• Inspect fit-up, weld preparation and completed welds
• Identify non-conformances and help drive corrective action
• Maintain accurate inspection and quality documentation
• Support NDT activities including UT, MT, PT and RT where required
• Work with production teams to maintain quality and reduce rework

What They're Looking For

• Current AWS CWI certification
• Structural steel fabrication / welding inspection experience
• Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1
• D1.5 / bridge fabrication experience is a plus
• AISC fabrication experience preferredAbility to read structural drawings, welding symbols and WPSs
• Strong understanding of fabrication and welding processes
• NDT experience is highly desirable
