Job summary

SUNBELT SOLOMON SERVICES LLC is seeking an experienced Welder to join our production team. The role focuses on fabrication and welding of transformer components, interpreting engineering drawings to ensure precise builds, and mentoring junior welders.

The candidate should have hands-on experience with metal fabrication, welding techniques, and reading technical drawings, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with metal fabrication, welding techniques, and interpretation of engineering drawings to ensure high quality builds.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and welding specifications.
• Attention to fit-up, alignment and use of jigs, clamps and measuring tools to ensure tight tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Weld and assemble transformer components including tanks, radiator fins and brackets, lifting lugs, base channels, conservators and other parts.
• Use MIG, TIG, and/or Stick welding techniques as required by material and project.
• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and welding specs to guide fabrication.
• Ensure proper fit-up and alignment using jigs, clamps and measuring tools; perform grinding, cutting and surface prep as needed.
• Perform pre- and post-weld inspections to ensure quality standards.
• Repair cracks, leaks or damage on transformer tanks or components as required.
• Operate hand tools, overhead cranes, forklifts and shop equipment safely; maintain equipment.
• Communicate with engineering, quality and production teams about design changes or fabrication issues.
• Mentor novice welders in welding and fabrication; support continuous process improvements.
