Job summary

Sunbelt Solomon in Sharon, PA is seeking an experienced Welder to join our production team. You will fabricate and weld transformer components and read engineering drawings to ensure precise builds.

This role requires hands-on metal fabrication, proficiency with MIG, TIG, and Stick welding, and the ability to work from blueprints. Expect a Monday-Thursday schedule and a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; welding trade school or technical training preferred.
• 2 years of welding experience required.
• Air arc gouging, plasma cutting, and stud gun experience required.
• Experience in welding oil or liquid filled tanks required.
• Complete and pass pre-employment and annual respiratory fit testing in compliance with OSHA standards.
• Proficient in welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick) on mild and stainless steel.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders, engineering drawings and welding symbols.
• Knowledge of ASME or AWS welding codes is a plus.
• AWS Certified Welder (or equivalent) preferred.
• A proven track record in safety excellence is required.
• Adheres to all safety and environmental compliance regulations set by the organization.

Responsibilities

• Weld and assemble transformer components including tanks, radiator fins, and brackets.
• Use MIG, TIG, and/or Stick welding techniques based on material and project requirements.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding specifications.
• Ensure proper fit-up and alignment of welded parts using jigs, clamps, and measuring tools.
• Perform grinding, cutting, and surface preparation prior to and after welding.
• Conduct pre-weld and post-weld inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Repair cracks, leaks, or damage on transformer tanks or components as required.
• Operate hand tools, overhead cranes, forklifts, and other shop equipment safely.
• Maintain welding equipment and tools provided by the organization.
• Communicate with engineering, quality, and production teams regarding design changes or fabrication issues.
• Ability to mentor novice welders in the area of welding and fabrication.
• Support continuous improvement efforts in welding and fabrication processes.
• Following all safety protocols which includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain safe, clean, and orderly workstation.
• Other assigned duties as needed.
