The ideal candidate has 10+ years in welding engineering, including 5+ years in DOE or commercial nuclear work, and holds ASME and AWS credentials. Lead technical decisions as the program's authority.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership and technical writing ability in welding programs.
  • Strong issue-resolution skills under schedule pressure.
  • Experience coordinating welding and NDE/PWHT controls in nuclear/DOE environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve the Welding and Special Processes Program, including procedures and records.
  • Lead Welding Engineers and Field Welding Engineers across shifts.
  • Review contracts and specs to establish welding requirements and resolve code issues.
  • Approve WPSs, PQRs, weld maps, and qualification documents.
  • Direct welder qualification testing and NDE coordination.
  • Oversee filler-metal procurement, storage, and rod-room controls.
  • Provide field technical support for fit-up and repairs.
  • Evaluate supplier welding programs and conduct surveillance.
  • Monitor welder performance and initiate corrective action.
