Job summary

CTR Group seeks a Welding Engineer in Newport News, VA to support production, quality, and process improvement in a heavy equipment manufacturing environment. The role blends hands-on welding expertise with engineering fundamentals to develop procedures, qualify welders, and ensure code compliance.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with fabrication teams, troubleshoot weld issues, review drawings, and drive continuous improvement across welding operations while upholding AWS/ASME/ISO

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering or related field.
• Experience in heavy equipment manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW processes.
• Familiarity with AWS, ASME, ISO welding codes.

Responsibilities

• Develop, revise, and maintain WPS, PQR, WPQ documentation.
• Support welder qualification testing and process validation.
• Guide joint design, filler metals, heat input, and welding techniques.
• Troubleshoot weld defects with cross-functional teams.
• Review drawings and verify weld symbols for manufacturability.
• Assist with new welding technologies and automation.
