Job summary

StevenDouglas seeks a Welding Engineer to support the establishment of a best-in-class Welding Center of Excellence. The role focuses on reviewing designs, developing weld maps, and driving high-quality, low-distortion welds across projects.

You will lead qualification activities (PQR, WPS, PQTR), coordinate with suppliers, and mentor welders and technicians while ensuring compliance with NAVSEA/NAVSEA-related standards and DoD requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in welding engineering or related technical discipline.
• 5–10 years of experience in welding engineering field.
• Experience with AWS D1.1, D1.2, D1.6, D17.1, and ASME Section IX.
• Desirable: DoD security clearance.
• Certifications in Lean Six Sigma or AWS are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review weld designs and welding process documentation for compliance.
• Develop weld maps, sequence maps, and related documentation.
• Lead weld qualification activities (PQR, WPS, PQTR).
• Perform on-site supplier audits to ensure quality.
• Provide welding process training and establish control plans.
