Job summary

Path Robotics, Inc. is seeking a Welding Engineer (NAVSEA Specialist) to lead welding operations for naval defense applications. You will interpret NAVSEA publications, develop and approve WPS/PQR, and ensure MIL-STD and AWS standards are met within robotic welding contexts.

You will collaborate with robotics engineers to optimize parameters, manage vendor audits, and perform DoE-based experiments while traveling 30–50% to shipyards and customer sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering or related STEM field.
• 5+ years welding engineering in defense maritime contracting.
• 3+ years developing robotic welding procedures.
• Experience with NAVSEA standards and ship manuals.
• DoD Secret clearance eligibility; US citizenship.
• AWS CWEng or CWI certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead welding engineering operations and qualification activities.
• Audit design packages for compliance with MIL-STD-1689, MIL-STD-22D, AWS D1.1/D1.2.
• Draft/approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and PQRs.
• Perform root-cause analysis on welding failures using NDT data.
• Conduct vendor audits to verify NAVSEA program compliance.
• Run weld parameter experiments with robotics; collaborate with robotics engineers.
• Fabricate test coupons; operate AI-powered welding cell.
• Travel to shipyards and client sites as needed, 30–50%.
