Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Welding Engineer to provide daily technical support across body shop welding, dispensing, and joining processes. You will troubleshoot equipment, lead weld verification, and drive improvements in safety, quality, cost, and productivity, collaborating with Maintenance, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production teams across North America.

The role requires hands-on problem solving, ability to read CAD drawings, develop welding parameters, and support launches

Qualifications

• 3+ years in manufacturing or welding engineering with automotive experience.
• Strong knowledge of resistance welding, GMAW, and joining processes.
• Understanding of weld verification, documentation, and plant support.
• Ability to read CAD drawings and vehicle designs.
• Analytical, problem-solving, project management, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, and Teamcenter.
• Willingness to travel internationally across North America.

Responsibilities

• Support vehicle launches from prototype through production readiness.
• Provide technical direction during integration and resolution of weld issues.
• Coach maintenance teams to improve troubleshooting capability.
• Develop welding parameters and execute validation projects.
• Support ISO and GM audits for welding and dispensing requirements.
