Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Body Welding Execution Engineer to support vehicle launches and production across North America. You will lead weld verification, qualification, and program testing, developing welding parameters and processes while reviewing requirements with engineering teams.

You will help implement common welding systems, provide guidance on equipment integration, and drive improvements across weld quality and productivity for new materials and programs.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in manufacturing or welding engineering in automotive context.
• Expertise in resistance welding, gas metal arc welding, and welding equipment troubleshooting.
• Ability to read CAD drawings and manufacturing diagrams.
• Strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead weld verification, qualification, and program testing; develop welding parameters and processes.
• Review Manufacturing Requirements with Manufacturing Architects, ME, and PI; perform deviation testing with robotic welding systems.
• Develop and implement common body welding systems, specs, and standards to meet requirements.
• Support integration, startup, debugging, and troubleshooting of welding equipment; guide GM plant teams and suppliers.
• Advance welding technologies through ATW projects including validation and weldability approvals for new materials and launches.
• Collaborate across teams to estimate cost, secure funding, and digitize weld data for productivity and quality improvements.
