Position: Welder/Production Operative - Fabrication (Fixed Term Contract for 12 months)

We are looking for a temporary Welder/Production Operative to join our Fabrication Department. The ideal candidate will be skilled in welding and fabrication techniques, able to interpret engineering drawings, and proficient in operating fabrication machinery.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. MIG welding and sheet metal welding to assemble cases and components according to engineering drawings.
2. Cut materials using CNC guillotine, working with mild and stainless steel 0.7 to 5mm thick.
3. Set up and operate a Hydraulic Fly Press Machine.
4. Use metal cutting band saws and notching machines.
5. Deburr and shape components using notches and linishing belts.
6. Operate handheld grinders and tools.
7. Read and interpret engineering drawings.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

1. Proficiency in MIG welding techniques.
2. Apprentice trained, with City and Guilds or NVQ Level 2 (or higher) in fabrication and welding preferred but not essential.
3. Strong fabrication and sheet metal skills in a light/medium fabrication environment.
4. Experience operating a guillotine machine, with the ability to measure and mark with close tolerances.
5. Experience with Bystronic (Edwards Pearson) Press Brake Machine working with mild and stainless steel 0.7 to 5mm thick is a plus.
6. Attention to detail and accuracy.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
