Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Proper setup, use, and maintenance of equipment including shears, punch and break presses, drills, grinders, copers, plate strippers, splitters, saws, iron workers, planers, threaders, rolls, and bevels to ensure quality production. Set up and operate associated tooling/equipment and accessories as required.
- Proper setup, use, and maintenance of material handling equipment including chains, slings, hooks, couplers, gantry cranes, and overhead bridge cranes.
- Verify accuracy of work per AISC, customer, and internal quality control standards, guidelines, and restrictions.
- Work from written/verbal instructions, blueprints, patterns, orders, lists, and scheduling practices.
- Handle movement of materials, supplies, tools, and equipment to and from the work area as required.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance including lubricating, cleaning, making minor adjustments, and replacing filters. Assist as required in the upkeep of the production facility.
- Purchase, proper use, and maintenance of all required personal tools and safety equipment. Proper use and maintenance of all company tools, equipment, supplies, and computer hardware and software.
- Maintain clean and orderly work and break areas through proper storage of materials, supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Accurately complete all required documentation including time cards, maintenance request forms, safety forms, and personnel forms.
Knowledge and Skills
- Accurate knowledge of AISC standards and procedures relative to allowable tolerances, finishes, and locations.
- Knowledge and skill in machining a variety of material types in varying thickness and configurations.
- Knowledge and demonstrable skill in troubleshooting, operating, and maintaining various equipment.
- Knowledge and skill in the operation and maintenance of material handling equipment and all accessory tools/equipment used in the fabrication process, including pneumatic hand tools, standard hand tools, and measuring equipment. Ability to read tape measure fractions down to 1/16.
- Ability to understand and follow complex blueprints, directions, instructions, and other forms of production communication.
- Ability to work with other areas and departments to coordinate workflow and achieve optimum output.
