Job summary

Scot Forge in Spring Grove, IL is hiring a Welder - MIG and TIG for 2nd shift. The role involves performing solid welding across GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, and SAW on ferrous and non-ferrous metals per drawings and procedures.

A minimum of 5 years of welding experience without a degree, plus a technical weld certificate or related degree, is expected. We offer competitive hourly pay with a 10% shift premium and comprehensive benefits.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual, automated, and mechanized welding (GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, SAW).
• Read engineering drawings and welding procedures to determine methods and settings.
• Weld ferrous and non-ferrous metals per instructions.
• Inspect for defects using penetrant or magnetic particle methods.
• Design and build fixtures for repairs on product and tooling.

Scot Forge is an employee-owned company that manufactures custom open die and rolled ring forgings used in demanding applications all over the world.

We have locations in Spring Grove, IL, Clinton, WI and Franklin Park, IL.

Scot Forge performs a hair follicle drug screen, lift test up to 65 lbs. and background check.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Manual, automated, and mechanized welding operations (GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, SAW)
• Work on ferrous & non ferrous metals per engineering drawings & instructions
• Without certificate or degree, 5 years of relevant welding experience
• Use die penetrant or mag particle to locate any defects
• Conduct air arcing to remove material or cracks
• Design and build fixtures needed to safely make repairs on product and tooling
• Load, light and unload furnaces
• Review shop order blueprints and welding procedures to determine appropriate welding methods and settings.
• Use tools such as tape measures, calipers, pi tapes, levels, filet gauges, etc. to welds #1893

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Minimal Skills-

• 5 years of relevant welding experience without a welding degree
• 1 year experience in metal fabrication
• With Technical Weld Certificate or Associate’s Degree from accredited school or equivalent experience
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Use of respirator for extended period of time.
• U se of fork lifts, grinders, stamping tools, overhead cranes, computers, tool crib machines, and hand tools.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 65 lbs.
