Job summary

Ferry Industries, Inc. in the United States seeks an experienced welder capable of performing MIG, TIG, and stick welding with brazing or flame cutting as needed. You will read and interpret blueprints, lay out welds, and complete high‑quality welds per drawings.

The role involves handling diverse fabrication work, maintaining equipment, and training newer operators. Candidates should have a high school diploma and own hand tools.

Qualifications

• 5 years of welding experience in a job-shop environment including MIG, TIG and stick welding with brazing.
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Own hand tools required for the position.
• Ability to read blueprints, lay out weldments and finish welds per drawings.
• Experience with acetylene torch flame cutting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret detailed blueprints and welding drawings.
• Perform diversified welding on a variety of fabrications with minimal supervision.
• Hold tolerances as per drawings; make layouts, fit weldments and pre/post heat as required.
• Maintain welding equipment and keep work area organized.
• Instruct or train new operators and perform miscellaneous supervisor-directed tasks.

Job description

Qualifications and Requirements:

• 5 years’ experience in job-shop welding position doing Mig, Tig, and stick welding; brazing, flame cutting with acetylene torch.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Must have own hand tools required for position.
• Must be able to read blueprints, make layouts, fit up weldments and finish weld per drawings.

Must be physically able:

• Lift 50 lbs.
• Work 4–5-hour periods with 10 minutes break.
• Be able to work in areas requiring bending, stooping, turning, twisting, etc.

Primary Duties:

• Must read and interpret detailed blueprints.
• Must have the ability and experience to perform highly diversified work in welding a wide variety of various-sized fabrications, with a minimum of supervision using complicated drawings
• Hold tolerances as required by drawings; make layouts, fit weldments, pre-heat weld, post-heat, straighten, bend, bow, and burn as required by the blueprints.

Secondary Duties:

• Maintain welding equipment, i.e., keep welding machines clean, service vacuum unit on smoke torch, keep tooling organized and ready to use.
• Clean work area daily (end of shift).
• Perform miscellaneous tasks assigned by supervisor.
• Instruct or train new operators.

Rate: Starting rate will depend upon individual’s qualifications.
