Job summary

G.R. Manufacturing, Inc. is looking for a skilled Welder to join our shop in Trussville, AL. You will fit and weld parts using MIG welding, read production drawings, and follow work instructions to meet print specifications.

You will set machine parameters, produce penetrated, high-quality welds, and ensure compliance with AWS symbols and blueprints. A valid HS diploma or equivalent and 3+ years of welding experience are required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent with at least 3 years’ experience or vocational schooling in related field.
  • Knowledge of welding processes and equipment.
  • Able to weld vertical, flat and overhead with good penetration and quality.
  • Operate acetylene torches when required.
  • Exceptional math skills including metric system and angles.
  • Able to read tape measures, angle finders, blueprints and AWS symbols.
  • Ability to operate forklift and overhead cranes.

Responsibilities

  • Set welding machine parameters for material being welded.
  • Make welds to meet print specifications.
  • Produce strong penetrated welds that are smooth and consistent.
  • Follow procedures and use fixtures to assist assembly.
  • Operate robotic weld cell as assigned.
  • Verify conformance of finished parts to print specifications and quality standards.
  • Properly use and maintain tools, fixtures, and machines.
  • Keep work area clean and orderly.

Job description

The Welder candidate will be responsible for fitting and welding parts using information from production drawings, shop travelers and work instructions as required utilizing MIG welder, fixtures and basic welding tools to meet print specifications.

  • Responsible for setting appropriate welding machine parameters for material being welded.
  • Responsible for making welds to meet print specifications.
  • Responsible for producing strong penetrated welds that are smooth, non-porous and consistent.
  • Follow required procedures and uses appropriate fixtures to assist in the assembly process.
  • Basic operation of robotic weld cell as assigned.
  • Verify conformance of finished part to print specifications and quality standards.
  • Responsible for properly using and maintaining tools, fixtures, and machines.
  • Responsible for keeping work area clean and orderly.
Basic Qualifications
  • Candidate must possess a High School diploma or equivalent with at least 3 years’ experience or vocational schooling in related field.
  • Candidate must have knowledge of welding processes and equipment.
  • Candidate must be able to weld vertical, flat and overhead with a good penetration and a quality weld.
  • Candidate must have ability to operate acetylene torches.
  • Candidate must have exceptional math skills including metric system and angles.
  • Candidate must be able to read tape measures and angle finders as well as reading blueprint drawings and AWS symbols.
  • Candidate must have the ability to operate a forklift and overhead cranes.
  • Candidate must be able to weld in awkward positions such as kneeling or lying down, and be able to work from a ladder.
  • Candidate must be able to work a full-time, 5-days per week 10-hours per shift.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
