Job summary

Voss Manufacturing is seeking a skilled welder to fabricate and weld structural and sheet metal components. You will use MIG/TIG welding techniques, read engineering drawings, and ensure welds meet specifications and quality standards.

Responsibilities include following procedures, preparing pieces for weld integrity, and safely handling materials and equipment on site. A high school diploma or equivalent and related technical training are required.

  • Expert at using handheld inspection tools and measurement devices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of welding machines and fabrication equipment.

  • Weld according to drawings, BOMs, specs, and procedures.
  • Prepare work pieces for proper weld integrity and appearance.
  • Follow welding work and inspection procedures and machine settings.
  • Operate lifting and material handling equipment as needed.

Description

JOB SUMMARY

Fabricate and weld structural and sheet metal components utilizing fabrication equipment and welding techniques such as Mig, Tig, etc. Work to performance standards, customer specifications and delivery requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Welding
  • Fabricate and weld structural and sheet metal components utilizing fabrication equipment and welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, etc.
  • Weld and fabricate according to engineering drawings, bill of materials, specifications, and procedures.
  • Fabricates equipment by cutting, burning and welding various metals.
  • Repairs equipment by using welding techniques and appropriate welding equipment.
  • Proper selection and safe use of gasses, rods, supplies, materials and procedures and equipment to perform welding duties.
  • Builds up worn or defective surfaces.
  • Uses burning equipment to dismantle assemblies and to cut material to size and shape.
  • Proper preparation of work pieces for proper weld integrity and good appearances.
  • Establish and follow welding work and inspection procedures, including machine settings.
  • Utilize safe and proper rigging, fixtures and work holding to perform welding tasks.
  • Proper and safe use of material handling equipment such as cranes, carts, etc.
  • Operate hand measurement tooling to inspect part accuracy.
Requirements
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Expert at using handheld inspection tools such as vernier calipers, tape measure, etc. and understanding the correct application for each type.
  • Expert at reading and interpreting engineering technical drawings, tolerancing, and GD&T.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of types welding machines and techniques, fabrication equipment, their correct applications, and proper use.
  • Strong understanding material identification and manufacturability of various types materials such as Aluminums, Steels, Stainless Steels, etc.
  • Ability to utilize hand tools and operate fabricating machines such as mills, presses, shears, saws, brakes, and laser preferred.
  • Strong listening skills to fully understand the inquiries, direction and communications among all employees.
  • Team player; with flexibility to handle a variety of responsibilities as needed.
  • Positive, diplomatic attitude
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • 2-3 years of related experience, 5+ years preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION REQUIRED
  • High school diploma or equivalency minimum.
  • Degree or certificate from a related technical/vocational trade program preferred.
