Aerotek is seeking a pipe welder for a Nvidia Data Center Project in Fremont, CA. This contract role requires MIG and TIG welding of pressure-containing piping for cooling systems, with close collaboration alongside pipefitters in a fast-paced construction setting.

You will read drawings, prepare and align piping, and perform welds that meet stringent safety and quality standards while adhering to project schedules. Onsite supervision applies, with full PPE and long-duration overtime potential.

Job Description

This role supports a large-scale data center construction project by installing, fitting, and welding cooling system piping that serves mission-critical operations. You will perform high-quality MIG and TIG welds on pressure-containing piping systems, ensuring every joint meets stringent safety, quality, and inspection standards. The position requires close collaboration with pipefitters and other trades to complete pipe preparation, alignment, and installation in a fast-paced construction environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG and TIG welding on cooling and process piping systems in accordance with project specifications and welding procedures.
• Install, fit, and weld pressure-containing piping systems that support critical data center cooling operations.
• Complete pipe preparation, alignment, and fit-up, working closely with pipefitters to ensure proper layout and installation.
• Produce high-quality welds capable of passing pressure testing and other rigorous inspection requirements.
• Read and interpret project drawings, isometrics, and work instructions to execute welds and installations accurately.
• Follow all site safety procedures, including the proper use of PPE, safe work practices, and adherence to construction site protocols.
• Maintain weld quality standards by inspecting completed welds, correcting defects, and documenting work as required.
• Support pressure testing activities by ensuring weld integrity and assisting with test preparations as needed.
• Maintain tools, welding equipment, and work areas in a safe, clean, and organized condition.
• Collaborate with onsite supervision, project management, and other trades to meet schedule milestones and production goals.
• Adapt to working both indoors and outdoors, adjusting methods and workflows to suit changing construction phases and site conditions.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience welding pressure-containing piping systems in an industrial or commercial construction environment.
• Strong MIG welding experience on pipe and related components.
• Strong TIG welding experience on pipe and related components.
• Ability to perform pipe preparation, alignment, and fit-up to tight tolerances.
• Experience working alongside pipefitters on pipe layout, preparation, and installation.
• Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality welds that consistently pass pressure testing and inspection.
• Ability to read and follow project drawings, welding procedures, and technical specifications.
• Strong commitment to safety and adherence to strict quality standards.
• Experience with stainless steel welding and fabrication for cooling water and process piping systems.
• Proficiency using flux core welding equipment where required by the project.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
