Job summary

City of Lincoln Medina, Ohio is seeking a skilled Welder for full-time production work. The role requires standing, reading drawings, and various welding methods, with first shift from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Base pay is $25.00–$28.00 per hour plus comprehensive benefits including health, dental, life, disability, and a 401(k) with company match. Minimum high school diploma and 3+ years welding experience preferred.

Overview

Responsibilities
  • Position material to be welded and apply hand-eye coordination to achieve the desired weld.
  • Weld materials such as steel, stainless steel, aluminum, or other alloys using methods that may include gas welding, shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas-metal arc welding (GMAW), or submerged arc welding (SAW).
  • Perform work that may be short-run production or custom job shop work, with possible high-pressure and code welding or other work involving critical safety and load requirements or welds where appearance is critical.
  • Regulate heat and feed and select electrodes, tips, and rods as needed.
  • Work from complex specifications, drawings, prints, and welding symbols and may provide technical direction to others.
Qualifications
  • Education & Training: High school or equivalent. Preferred: Certificate of completion from a Certified Welding Program.
  • Knowledge & Experience: High-level understanding of GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) standards; 3+ years of welding experience (work or trade school).
  • Skills & Abilities: Ability to pass a high-level welding test/certification; experience in a cell-based manufacturing environment; ability to train others; strong problem-solving skills.
Summary of Duties
  • Weld complex components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
  • Interpret and use engineering drawings, blueprints, and sketches to plan, layout, and facilitate welding of components.
  • Fabricate and fit complex components.
  • Provide training to others and engage in problem-solving to meet production goals.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Physical demands: constant standing and walking on even concrete; frequent sitting, grasping, handling, crawling, and reaching (no more than 2/3 of the time); occasional lifting and carrying, pushing, and pulling (avg. up to 30–50 lbs; occasional >70 lbs with cranes or hydraulic lifts).
  • Occasional exposure to hot temperatures.
Hours
  • 1st shift: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Lunch: 30 minutes; two paid 15-minute breaks
Overtime
  • With manager approval
Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary: $25 - $28 per hour
  • Vacation: up to 2 weeks per year (0–3 years); up to 3 weeks per year (3–6 years); up to 4 weeks per year (>6 years)
