Job summary

Wastequip in Minnesota is seeking an experienced Welder to perform MIG welding and assemble components per detailed prints, layouts, and jigs. The role requires careful attention to weld quality and adherence to safety protocols on busy production lines.

The position involves reading simple instructions, measuring with tape, and working in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must pass all EHS requirements and demonstrate the ability to operate weld equipment safely.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • MIG Welding experience is required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Knowledge of basic math, tape measure reading preferred.
  • Experience in a fast-paced production environment preferred.
  • Ability to pass all EHS requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Position parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor, or clamp parts together along layout marks.
  • Lay out, position, and tack weld work pieces.
  • MIG welds along vertical, horizontal, and overhead weld lines.
  • Connect regulator valves to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders for cutting torch; adjust gas flow and pressure as required.
  • Examine weld for bead size and other specifications.
  • Scarfs or grooves welds and parts.
  • Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or splatter.
  • Complete tasks while adhering to production schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

The welder position will have expertise in MIG Welding techniques, by focusing on the assembly of components, parts, and structures as specified by prints, layouts and/or jigs and fixtures.

Hourly Rate : $26.50 - $28.88 (Based on experience)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Positions parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor, or clamps parts together along layout marks.
  • Lays out, positions, and tack welds work pieces.
  • MIG Welds along vertical, horizontal, and overhead weld lines.
  • Connects regulator valves to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders for cutting torch. Turns regulator valves to activate flow of gases, lights torch and adjusts gas mixture and pressure to obtain desired flame. Holds & guides torch at proper angle to cut metal.
  • Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
  • Scarfs or grooves welds and parts.
  • Chips or grinds off excess weld, slag, or splatter.
  • Completes tasks while adhering to production schedules
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and quality standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical and Work Environment Requirements:

The employee must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Employee must regularly stand, walk, reach, and stoop
  • Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 90 lbs.
  • Employee must be able to have distance, up close, and peripheral vision and depth perception
  • Position has frequent exposure to heat, noise, vibration, smoke, dust, fumes, dirt, grease and oil.
  • Employees may be occasionally in a cramped or confined space depending on the welding line.
