Job summary

Nidec Defense Group in Lexington, TN, seeks an experienced welder/assembler to join our manufacturing team. You will assemble and weld shells, rings and feet for generators, read blueprints, and set up welders to ensure correct tolerances.

The role emphasizes safety, TPM routines, and quality. A High School Diploma or GED is required, with first shift on-site work expected.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and weld shells, rings, and feet for generators.
  • Place stator core on mandrel, assemble shell and rings.
  • Gauge height and tack weld components.
  • Weld feet to frame and core assembly.
  • Set up welders and adjust speeds/feeds for proper welding.
  • Inspect welded material to prevent rework and participate in TPM tasks.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and safety practices in the work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Team Leader.

Assembles and welds shells, rings, and feet for generators. Also corrects settings, speeds, and feeds on welders including proper setup of product to be welded.

Duties & Responsibilities Information
  • Assembles and welds shells, rings, and feet for generators
  • Places stator core on mandrel, asssembles shell and rings
  • Guages height and then tacks weld together
  • Assembles and welds feet to frame and core assembly
  • Corrects settings on welders including speeds and feeds as well as proper setup of product to be welded
  • Inspects quality of material being welded to prevent rework
  • Includes MIG welding
  • Protects other employees from flash of arc which could cause damage to eyes
  • Wears welding hood, gloves, and other protection as dictated
  • Exercises good housekeeping in work area
  • Observes good safety practices in performance of job
  • Performs daily/weekly TPM tasks and completes checksheets
  • Performs other job duties as assigned by Supervisor or Team Leader
