Job summary

Nidec is seeking a skilled Senior Service Technician to disassemble, evaluate, repair, and reassemble generators at our Mankato, MN location. You will travel with a Senior Technician to perform field service and customer support, using electrical testing and mechanical assembly skills.

Requires eight thousand hours of experience, knowledge of stator/rotor winding, and willingness to learn. A forklift certification may be pursued; medical, retirement, and growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• 8,000 hours of experience in generator repair or similar field.
• Willingness to travel 20%–50% for field work.
• Must be a sole US citizen.

Starting Salary: $24.58 to $28.57 hourly

Job Description

Disassemble, evaluate, repair, and reassemble generators that are returned to Kato Engineering for repair, refurbishment, or warranty. Interface with customers both in the field and at the Company. Make decision as to disposition of parts. Travel from twenty (20) percent to fifty (50) percent of the time with a Senior Service Technician in the field. Will be required to use all appropriate tools. Must have knowledge of or be willing to learn stator winding and hookup (including electrical testing); rotor winding, hookup, assembly, and balance (including electrical testing); assembly of generators; testing of generators and aligning and coupling generators. Eight thousand (8,000) hours experience required to acquire necessary skills and techniques, knowledge of designs, materials and equipment, methods and procedures utilized. Performs other duties as designated by supervisor in the same salary grade or below.

If desired by the employee and deemed beneficial by the Company, any employee in this classification may, upon certification, obtain a forklift license and be permitted to operate a gas or electric powered forklift truck to move material within their department and classification.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

Vocational or high school graduate plus a formal training program or equivalent on-the-job training required to obtain sufficient knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles, applications, and sequences.

Must be a sole US citizen.
