Carlson Hydraulics is seeking a skilled and motivated Hydraulic Cylinder Welder to support welding operations in the production of high-quality hydraulic cylinders. This role offers hands-on experience in MIG welding, the opportunity to develop expertise in pulse and robotic welding, and the ability to grow within a collaborative, safety-first manufacturing environment.

What the Role Entails:

Welding and Fabrication Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine welding layouts
  • Perform MIG welding on hydraulic cylinder components, including rods, barrels, bases, and ports
  • Conduct manual welding using lathe machinery for precise fabrication and repair
  • Monitor equipment to ensure safe operation, temperature control, and consistent weld quality
  • Learn and assist with robotic and pulse welding systems to improve efficiency (training provided)
  • Perform welding in various positions (flat, round, rolling) based on project requirements

Safety and Quality

  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of PPE and shop procedures
  • Inspect welds for quality assurance and resolve any discrepancies in material or alignment
  • Support a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to process enhancements

What You Will Bring:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid welding certificate from an accredited institution
  • 2+ years of MIG welding experience (required)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
  • Comfortable working with manual welding equipment, including lathe machinery
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods
  • A positive attitude and team-first mindset

Nice-to-Have Experience (Not Required):

  • Exposure to hydraulic cylinder welding or leak-proof techniques
  • Familiarity with robotic welding systems and pulse welding
  • Experience with steel, aluminum, and stainless-steel materials
  • Use of fabrication equipment such as grinders, jigs, and fixtures
