Job description

Description

This position requires the ability to join metal parts, such as pipes or metal plates, as specified by layout, blueprints, work orders, welding procedures, or oral instructions through the application of heat or electric arc-welding equipment. Other duties may be assigned. MUST HAVE YOUR OWN RIG.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Use spot welding guns or hand, electric, or gas welding equipment to weld or tack weld pieces together.
2. Unite pipes from torch to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas, and turn valves to release the mixture.
3. Achieve the expected temperature, size, and color of flame by burning torch and adjusting gas and air flow.
4. Preheat workpieces for welding or shaping using a torch.
5. Fill holes or correct mistakes in lead pieces and make bulges thin and curves in metal workpieces.
6. Check the integrity of workpieces and measure them with straightedges or templates to ensure they meet specifications.
7. Climb ladders or work on scaffolds to access textures.
8. Signal crane operators to lift large workpieces.
9. Use thermal-cutting equipment, such as flame-cutting torches or plasma-arc equipment, to dismount metal assemblies or cut scrap metal.
10. Use hoists, cranes, wire and banding machines, or hand tools to position and protect workpieces.
11. Select the welding location based on type, thickness, area, and expected temperature of the metal to ensure safety and quality.
12. Use flame or electrodes on or across workpieces to straighten, curve, dissolve, or develop metal.
13. Join pieces together, cover taut points, and add metal to develop parts.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required:

3-5 years of Journeyman-level experience.
