Job summary

Boyd in Lancaster, PA seeks an experienced Welder to set up and operate TIG welding on aluminum components. You will read blueprints, follow weld instructions, and produce precise joints while maintaining safety and quality.

Responsibilities include tack-welding, inspecting finished parts, and keeping the work area clean. Cross-training and overtime may be required to meet production needs.

Boyd Thermal by Eaton is seeking a Welder in our Lancaster, PA location.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating Manual Welder to tungsten inert gas (TIG) weld components according to the specifications. Your attention to detail and commitment to excellence will have a direct impact on our operational success and customer satisfaction

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Operate Manual Welder to TIG weld components safely according to specifications (aluminum).
• Follow weld instructions and complete projects based on blueprints
• Understand and execute verbal instructions from Manufacturing leadership regarding job orders to determine product specifications.
• Perform tack-weld functions to join metal work pieces at specified distances.
• Inspect and record quality requirements of finished work pieces.
• Use all safety devices/tools to ensure safe operation of welding processes.
• Ensure work area is kept clean and organized at all times.
• Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with Company policies and procedures.
• Participate in cross-training throughout manufacturing facility. Dependent upon company need, may be posted in alternate work assignment.
• All other duties as assigned

Preferred:

• High school or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or technical school diploma or equivalent in relevant work experience preferred
• 5+ years related experience and/or training preferred
• Welding certificate preferred
• Ability to successfully pass weld exams, if necessary
• Proficient in accurate use of micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools
• Ability to read and work to set tolerances and work from blueprints
• Ability to set-up and operate Welding machine
• Mechanically inclined and possess strong degree of attention to detail
• Basic mathematical skills required to set-up and operate welding process
• Ability to be cross-trained throughout manufacturing facility
• Ability to work in a team fostered environment
• Ability to work overtime and weekends when needed

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to feel sharp edges on Parts. The employee frequently is required to reach, stand and Lift parts and communicate with members of the Machining and QC departments.
