Job purpose

Individual will be responsible for fabricating, joining, and repairing complex metal components using specialized welding techniques. Must have good attention to detail and accustomed to working and measuring to close tolerance and delicate parts. Responsible for maintaining work quality and doing in process inspection while maintaining corporate values.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Setup and operate Mig & Tig welders
  • Work must conform to exacting tolerances with allowances made for effects of temperature and aging of materials
  • Identifying and resolving issues that may arise during the welding process to ensure all requirements are met
  • Able to perform shop math and calculations as necessary to complete assigned tasks
  • Follow established company policies
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Maintain a clean work environment and work area
  • Read process sheets and drawings
  • Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together according to blueprints, using templates, jigs, and precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, fillegauges)
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED/Technical Training Certificate/Equivalent experience
  • Work experience: 2- 4 years in welding
  • Must be certified to AWS D17.1 classification
  • Could require intermittent long periods of sitting, standing and/or walking
  • Periodic lifting of materials not to exceed 40 pounds
  • Advanced skill level for Mig & Tig welding
  • Intermediate competency using micrometers, indicators, calipers, Indi-square
  • Willing to work beyond normal hours if needed
  • An understanding of both Metric and English measuring systems
  • Ability to understand blueprints
  • Ability to hold dimensional, parallel, perpendicular, and flatness tolerances
  • Previous experience welding the following materials (Aluminum, SS & Carbon Steels)
Working conditions
  • Generally working in production environment.
  • Required exposure to industrial oils, coolants, solvents, lubricants, adhesive and other chemicals. NOTE: All safety precautions will be used.
  • Requirement for some independent actions and/or decisions is expected.
  • Some repetitive motion required on occasion.
Physical requirements
  • Required daily: periodic lifting of materials and parts weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Required intermittent long periods sitting and standing.
  • Required to do repetitive work.
