Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6+ years welding and fabrication experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Minimum of 2+ years of leadership experience supervising welders, Weld Leads, or shop floor personnel.
• Strong knowledge of MIG welding processes, fabrication methods, weld quality standards, and blueprint interpretation.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, specifications, and production documentation.
• Experience with heavy-gauge steel fabrication preferred.
• Experience implementing and maintaining workplace safety programs and standards.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise and support Weld Leads and their welding/fabrication teams.
• Coordinate daily production activities to meet schedules, quality standards, and customer requirements.
• Monitor workflow, labor allocation, and departmental priorities to maximize efficiency.
• Collaborate with the Welding Manager to execute production plans, staffing strategies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure welders and Weld Leads comply with company safety standards, welding procedures, and quality requirements.
• Train, coach, and develop Weld Leads and welding personnel to improve skills and productivity.
• Conduct regular inspections to verify compliance with drawings, weld specs, and quality standards.
• Assist in troubleshooting fabrication and welding issues and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor departmental performance and address bottlenecks, quality concerns, and workforce challenges.
• Support hiring, onboarding, performance management, and disciplinary actions in partnership with HR.
• Maintain accurate production, attendance, and quality documentation.
• Communicate updates and process changes to Weld Leads and welding personnel.
• Promote a positive, accountable, and team-oriented culture throughout the department.
