Job summary

Global Power Components in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a Weld Lead for a temp-to-hire role onsite 5 days/week. You will supervise MIG welders, coordinate daily production, and ensure weld quality aligns with engineer specifications.

The ideal candidate holds a CWI certification, has 4+ years in manufacturing, can read blueprints, perform shop calculations, and lead a team to meet demanding schedules while maintaining safety.

Qualifications

• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required.
• Minimum four years of manufacturing floor experience.
• Ability to measure, compare and perform shop calculations per specs.
• Experience reading blueprints and interpreting weld specs.
• Detail-oriented with steel experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily activities of MIG welders/fabricators and delegate tasks.
• Train and motivate staff to meet manufacturing schedules.
• Assist with tasks to complete assignments as needed.
• Test products/equipment for defects and malfunctions.
• Maintain safety and communicate process changes to the team.

Global Power Components is a privately held, financially sound, growing manufacturer of UL heavy gauge steel fuel tanks, trailers, large generator enclosures, and modular metal enclosures for housing fully-equipped electrical distribution and control equipment. Due to our company growth we have immediate openings for Weld Leads.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily activities of MIG Welders/fabricators and delegating job responsibilities to appropriate employees
• Train and motivate staff to meet demanding manufacturing requirements and schedules
• Assist with tasks as necessary to complete assignments
• Test products/equipment for defects/malfunctions
• Work in a safe manner
• Communicate changes and updates to employees on processes and procedures

Qualifications

• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification
• Previous experience in a manufacturing facility on the shop floor for minimum of four (4) years
• Ability to measure, compare and make simple or complex shop calculations necessary to ensure products are in compliance with engineer or sales specifications
• Previous experience working with and reading blueprints
• Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve a variety of situations on the shop floor
• Previous experience working with steel a plus
• Previous experience leading shop floor employees and motivating them to complete jobs in a timely manner and accurately to specifications
• Must be detail oriented to meet the needs of our customers
