Job summary

Global Power Components in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a Weld Lead to supervise MIG welders and fabrication staff, ensuring safety and quality on high‑demand production lines. The role focuses on coordinating daily work, training personnel, and maintaining adherence to specifications.

Ideal candidates will have a CWI certification, several years on the shop floor, and strong problem‑solving and blueprint reading skills to drive continuous improvement and timely project completion.

Qualifications

• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification is required.
• Minimum 4 years of shop floor experience in a manufacturing facility.
• Ability to measure and perform shop calculations to meet engineering/sales specs.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve shop floor problems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily activities of MIG welders/fabricators and delegate responsibilities to the appropriate employees.
• Train and motivate staff to meet demanding manufacturing requirements and schedules.
• Assist with tasks as necessary to complete assignments.
• Test products/equipment for defects or malfunctions.
• Work in a safe manner.
• Communicate changes and updates to employees on processes and procedures.

Global Power Components is a privately held, growing manufacturer of UL steel fuel tanks, trailers, large generator enclosures and modular metal enclosures for housing fully equipped electrical distribution and control equipment. Global Power Components is a privately held, financially sound, growing manufacturer of UL heavy gauge steel fuel tanks, trailers, large generator enclosures, and modular metal enclosures for housing fully-equipped electrical distribution and control equipment. Due to our company growth we have immediate openings for Weld Leads.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily activities of MIG Welders/fabricators and delegating job responsibilities to appropriate employees
• Train and motivate staff to meet demanding manufacturing requirements and schedules
• Assist with tasks as necessary to complete assignments
• Test products/equipment for defects/malfunctions
• Work in a safe manner
• Communicate changes and updates to employees on processes and procedures

Qualifications

• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification
• Previous experience in a manufacturing facility on the shop floor for minimum of four (4) years
• Ability to measure, compare and make simple or complex shop calculations necessary to ensure products are in compliance with engineer or sales specifications
• Previous experience working with and reading blueprints
• Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve a variety of situations on the shop floor
• Previous experience working with steel a plus
• Previous experience leading shop floor employees and motivating them to complete jobs in a timely manner and accurately to specifications
• Must be detail oriented to meet the needs of our customers
