Job summary

Global Power Components is seeking a Weld Lead to supervise MIG welders and fabricators, coordinate daily shop floor activities, and drive quality and safety on site in Milwaukee, WI. This role requires leadership experience, blueprints proficiency, and a CWI certification.

The Weld Lead will train staff, enforce production schedules, and troubleshoot issues to ensure products meet engineer specifications and customer expectations.

Qualifications

• Experience leading weld/fabrication teams on a shop floor.
• Ability to measure and perform shop calculations to ensure specs compliance.
• Strong reading of blueprints and workmanship standards.
• Proven troubleshooting and problem solving in a manufacturing setting.
• Detail oriented to meet customer needs and quality expectations.

Responsibilities

Global Power Components is a privately held, growing manufacturer of UL steel fuel tanks, trailers, large generator enclosures and modular metal enclosures for housing fully equipped electrical distribution and control equipment. Global Power Components is a privately held, financially sound, growing manufacturer of UL heavy gauge steel fuel tanks, trailers, large generator enclosures, and modular metal enclosures for housing fully-equipped electrical distribution and control equipment. Due to our company growth we have immediate openings for Weld Leads.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate daily activities of MIG Welders/fabricators and delegating job responsibilities to appropriate employees
• Train and motivate staff to meet demanding manufacturing requirements and schedules
• Assist with tasks as necessary to complete assignments
• Test products/equipment for defects/malfunctions
• Work in a safe manner
• Communicate changes and updates to employees on processes and procedures

Qualifications:

• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification
• Previous experience in a manufacturing facility on the shop floor for minimum of four (4) years
• Ability to measure, compare and make simple or complex shop calculations necessary to ensure products are in compliance with engineer or sales specifications
• Previous experience working with and reading blueprints
• Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve a variety of situations on the shop floor
• Previous experience working with steel a plus
• Previous experience leading shop floor employees and motivating them to complete jobs in a timely manner and accurately to specifications
• Must be detail oriented to meet the needs of our customers
