Job summary

The Resident Support Specialist (RSS) is the welcoming presence at the front desk of our permanent supportive housing community. This role helps create a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for residents, many of whom were previously unhoused, as well as visitors to the building.

The RSS ensures front desk operations run smoothly, responds to emergency and non-emergency situations with care, and helps maintain a secure atmosphere.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in hospitality, customer service, or related field preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with diverse populations.
• Ability to remain calm and effective in emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Welcome residents and visitors and provide housing-related information.
• Operate front desk professionally; answer calls and log visitors.
• Monitor common areas to maintain a safe and comfortable environment.
• Maintain confidential property logs and incident reports.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and seek staff assistance when needed.
• Document concerns related to guidelines or lease agreements and assist resolution.
• Assist residents with completing work orders, incident reports, or grievances.
• Keep front desk and lobby clean and welcoming; perform light janitorial tasks.
• Provide light administrative support to the Support Services Manager.
• Communicate with property management and resident support teams with respect.
