Job summary

University of Wisconsin–Madison is seeking Nick Access Control & Equipment Assistants to staff the Welcome Desk at the Nicholas Recreation Center. This UW student job emphasizes customer service, problem solving, and professional etiquette while handling member interactions and equipment transactions.

Shifts are 5-15 hours per week with flexible scheduling to fit academic commitments. Training begins Spring 2027, and basic certifications must be obtained within the first month of employment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain American Red Cross or the American Heart Association CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification within the first month of employment.
• Provide excellent member service and promote a positive work environment.
• Demonstrate exceptional oral, written, and administrative skills.
• Understand and abide by FERPA policies.

Responsibilities

• Operate the Welcome Desk and monitor entry for members and guests.
• Assist at Member Services Desk with equipment checkout, towel distribution, and facility schedules.
• Explain membership details, programs, services, and merchandise transactions to members.
