Job summary

Ocean Community YMCA is seeking a part-time Welcome Center Staff Member at the Westerly-Pawcatuck branch. You will be the first contact for members and guests, creating a welcoming, inclusive environment reflecting the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Responsibilities include greeting members, handling inquiries and check-ins, processing transactions, and supporting daily operations. CPR training provided if needed, with opportunities for growth within the YMCA.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Previous customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office and membership software experience is a plus).
• Reliable and punctual with strong attention to detail.
• Current CPR certification or willing to obtain (YMCA will train).

Responsibilities

• Greet members and guests with warmth and professionalism.
• Assist with membership inquiries, registrations, and check-ins.
• Answer phone calls and provide accurate information about YMCA programs and services.
• Handle cash and credit card transactions.
• Maintain a clean and organized Welcome Center area.
• Enforce YMCA policies in a respectful and consistent manner.
• Respond to member concerns or incidents, escalating issues when necessary.
• Support program and facility staff by communicating member needs and scheduling updates.

Job description

The Ocean Community YMCA now has part-time opportunities at the Welcome Center at the Westerly-Pawcatuck branch. Early morning, evening and weekend hours available.

This is a part-time, non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $16.25 per hour.

The Welcome Center Staff Member is the first point of contact for members and guests, helping to create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment that reflects the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. This role ensures excellent customer service, handles membership-related tasks, and supports safe and smooth daily operations.
