Job summary

River of Life Care Center in Memphis, TN, is seeking an experienced Wound Care LPN to plan, coordinate, and provide total nursing care for residents, with supervision of clinical staff on wound care.

You will collaborate with physicians and nurses to manage complex wound drainage, skin protection, and ostomy care, while developing staff education programs. CPR certification and an active LPN license are required to join our faith-based team.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited LPN School of Nursing.
  • LPN license in the state employed.
  • CPR certification.
  • Two years of nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate ostomy care for patients on units.
  • Provide advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff for wound drainage, drainage confinement, skin protection, and pressure necrosis prevention.
  • Develop and conduct educational programs for staff.
  • Determine appropriate nursing interventions for identified patient problems, symptoms, and teaching needs.
  • Develop a patient care plan and determine equipment, materials, and resources needed to implement the care plan.
  • Select the stoma site on the patient prior to surgery based on anatomy, activity level, and lifestyle.
  • Perform related responsibilities as required.

Summary

Qualifications
Education
  • Graduate of accredited LPN School of Nursing.
Licenses/Certification
  • Valid LPN license in the state employed.
  • Valid CPR certification.
Experience
  • Two year of nursing experience preferred.
Essential Functions
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the ostomy care for patients on units.
  • Provides advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff for complex wound drainage, drainage confinement, skin protection, and the prevention of pressure necrosis (skin deterioration and skin loss)
  • Develops and conducts educational programs for staff.
  • Determines appropriate nursing interventions for identified patient problems, symptoms, and teaching needs.
  • Develops a patient care plan and determines the equipment, materials, and resources needed to successfully implement the care plan.
  • Selects the stoma (opening) site on the patient prior to surgery, based on the patient's anatomy, activity level, and lifestyle.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.
