Job summary

Tufts Medicine is seeking a unit coordinator to provide administrative and clinical support on the patient care unit. The role coordinates flow of patient activity, handles charts, admissions, and communications with multiple departments, under clinical leadership.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, healthcare customer service experience, and be proficient with Word, Excel, and Outlook. This position offers full-time hours with weekend rotation and opportunities to contribute to

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is required.
One year of customer service experience in healthcare or a healthcare setting preferred.
Associate's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintain constant communications with admissions on the status of all patients including transfers, admissions, discharges, bed changes, bed cleaning request, and possible changes through the shift.
Review bed assignments and relay this information to clinical staff.
Receive, greet and direct patients, visitors, physicians, and hospital personnel arriving on or calling a patient care unit.
Assemble and maintain patient charts on the assigned unit and prepare records for Medical Records upon discharge.
Prepare and maintain medical records, label patient names, and update bed boards and charts.
Transcribe physician orders to appropriate information sites and complete follow-through.
Coordinate communications during emergencies or STAT requests or orders.
Enter orders in hospital systems and retrieve data as needed.
