Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Weekend Shift CNC Laser Operator in Mesa, AZ to set up, program, and calibrate CNC machines for production runs, ensuring configurations meet specs and quality standards.

You will troubleshoot, monitor performance, and collaborate with engineering to improve processes while mentoring junior staff and participating in safety programs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma; technical certification or associate degree in machine operation/engineering preferred.
  • 2+ years in machine operations, preferably laser.
  • Proficient in machine programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of machining techniques including CNC operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and CAD/CAM files.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong leadership with mentoring experience.

Job Title: Weekend Shift CNC Laser Operator
Job Description

Join a dynamic team as a CNC Laser Operator for the weekend shift, where you will play a critical role in setting up, programming, and calibrating CNC machines. You will ensure that all configurations meet product specifications, troubleshoot complex issues, and monitor machine performance to enhance efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Set up, program, and calibrate CNC machines for production runs, ensuring all configurations meet product specifications.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex machine issues, including mechanical, electrical, and software-related problems.

  • Monitor machine performance and identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions.

  • Perform final quality checks on parts and assemblies to ensure they meet all standards and customer specifications.

  • Train and mentor less experienced machine operators on advanced machine operation and troubleshooting techniques.

  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on machines to ensure all equipment is in good working condition.

  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve product designs, production workflows, and equipment performance.

  • Maintain accurate records of production activities, machine performance, and corrective actions taken.

  • Follow and enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment.

  • Provide continuous improvement suggestions by following lean manufacturing guidelines.

Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent; advanced technical certification or associate degree in machine operation, engineering, or related field preferred.

  • 2+ years of experience in machine operations, preferably in laser.

  • Expertise in machine programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

  • Strong knowledge of machining techniques, including precision manufacturing and CNC operations.

  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD/CAM files.

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

  • Strong leadership abilities with experience in training and mentoring junior staff.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working with sheet metal that is cut, pressed, and punched to a strict tolerance.

  • Experience with punch press, press brake, and laser CNC.

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch as required.

  • Ability to climb a portable ladder.

  • Good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination.

Work Environment

This role requires working on a weekend shift from Friday to Sunday, 5 AM to 5:30 PM . The facility is equipped with industry 4.0 technology and promotes a safe working environment with strict adherence to safety protocols. Personal protective equipment is required, and the role involves physical tasks such as lifting, standing, and using ladders.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mesa, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.60/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
