Job Title: Machine Operator

$18-$23+/hr

Job Description

This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC lathes and mills to produce precision parts according to engineering specifications. The CNC Machine Operator ensures consistent product quality by accurately interpreting technical drawings, monitoring machine performance, performing routine maintenance, and inspecting finished components using precision measuring tools. This position works closely with the production team to meet quality, safety, and delivery targets in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC lathes and mills to produce high-quality components according to specifications.
  • Interpret technical drawings, engineering blueprints, and work instructions to determine machining requirements.
  • Monitor CNC machine operations and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on CNC machines to minimize downtime.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Follow established quality control standards and inspection procedures throughout the production process.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company policies and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily and weekly production goals and deadlines.
  • Document production information as required, including counts, measurements, and any issues encountered during machining.
  • Identify and report any equipment, material, or quality issues promptly to support continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating machines in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in setting up and operating machines.
  • Understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
  • Familiarity with quality control standards and basic inspection techniques.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude and machine operation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on producing accurate, high-quality parts.
  • Effective problem-solving skills to identify and correct machining or quality issues.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience operating a CNC machine.Ability to work effectively in a noisy, fast-paced machine shop environment.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new machines, processes, and procedures.

Work Environment

This position is based in a machine shop environment with active CNC lathes, mills, and related equipment. The work area can be noisy, and you can expect exposure to oils, coolants, and other byproducts of machining, so you should be comfortable working in a setting where you may get dirty during normal operations. The standard first shift runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The second shift runs Monday through Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., with second‑shift employees training on first shift for approximately 1–2 months. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required and provided in line with safety policies.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.
