Job summary

Rose Brooks Center in Kansas City, MO seeks a part-time Shelter Advocate–Weekends to provide survivor-centered, trauma-informed advocacy to residents of the shelter. This non-exempt role includes crisis intervention, safety planning, and helping residents access services.

The ideal candidate demonstrates excellent customer service, strong communication, and teamwork, with willingness to work Saturdays and Sundays 5–9 p.m. and holidays. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Experience providing excellent customer service and inclusive services to a diverse client group.
• Strong computer skills (MS Office, database system, and other software).
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Time management skills and the flexibility and ability to prioritize job tasks.
• Ability to provide services consistent with Rose Brooks Center’s values, beliefs, and philosophies, centered on trauma-informed care and accessibility.
• Proven ability to collaborate within an interdisciplinary team.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to provide proof of automobile insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and advocacy to callers on the hotline and in shelter.
• Facilitate services and activities that promote a healthy, safe, and positive living environment.
• Collaborate across programs within a multidisciplinary team and with external systems; report to Shelter Manager.
