Reporting to the Assistant Shelter Manager, the role requires strong communication skills, ability to work weekends, and travel within the service area as needed.

Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of dynamics of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and support services.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of others.

Responsibilities

  • Offers information and crisis counseling to callers; makes referrals to community resources.
  • Meets victims at the hospital for support.
  • Conducts initial shelter screen and intake for victims.
  • Orients new shelter residents and completes paper work.
  • Monitors residents in community living per Shelter policy.
  • Ensures resident and staff safety by emergency measures.
  • Maintains shelter cleanliness and order (laundry, donations, kitchen, bedrooms).
  • Documents shift information in logs and briefs incoming staff.
  • Completes weekly/monthly paperwork for supervisor.
  • Attends monthly Shelter Staff Meetings.
