Job summary

St. James Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Commack, NY is seeking a full-time Respiratory Therapist to join our geriatric care team.

The role requires Saturday and Sunday coverage, a state license, and independent clinical judgment to evaluate and treat residents without direct supervision. The RT will perform patient assessments, initiate therapies, manage equipment, document care, and participate in IDT meetings, with emphasis on improving residents' respiratory well-being in a skilled

Qualifications

• Graduate of COARC accredited AS or BS Respiratory program. Licensed as RRT or CRT.
• Licensed in the state in which practicing BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Completes assessments and implements Respiratory technique to maintain or rehab patient with many different Respiratory illness/diseases.
• Initiate therapies, maintain patient records, operate, check, and assemble equipment.
• Complete a variety of bedside treatments.
• Complete in-services for nursing staff every quarter.
• Responsible for completing daily, weekly and monthly documentation.
• Attend applicable IDT meetings.
• Experience with tracheotomy.
• Experience is a long term care setting.
• Follow procedure and protocol of facility.
• Completes tracking, auditing and caseload management.
• Performs related duties as required.
