Job summary

SOME is seeking a Residential Assistant to provide monitoring and oversight at Kirwan House in NW Washington, DC. The role supports residents’ health, safety, and well-being within a structured housing facility.

Hours are Saturday and Sunday, 12:00 pm to 12:00 am (part-time, 24 hours weekly); CPR/First Aid certification is required. The job is an essential position with opportunities to contribute to recovery and client services.

Qualifications

HS/GED required.
3-5 years experience in social services.
Experience in addictions or mental health treatment preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversee house operations and ensure safe and efficient operations.
Provide clients with support to maintain progress on treatment goals.
Plan and facilitate client participation in meaningful activity, on-site and in the community including recovery.
Facilitate on-site group meetings and provide coaching to residents to maintain recovery.
Monitor and document medications taken by clients.
Provide crisis management to clients as needed; document incidents according to policy and procedure.
Maintain client documentation and complete shift communication.
Monitor client whereabouts and activities; conduct regular checks of program environment.
Review client appointments and communicate with treatment team as needed.
Ensure house chores are completed.
Conduct drug screenings.
Perform room inspections; assist with client programming as needed.
Ensure household supplies are available.
Transport clients as needed to meet program needs.
Assist in preparing meals as needed.
