Job summary

SOME (So Others Might Eat) in Washington, DC is seeking a part-time Residential Assistant to contribute to a safe, recovery-focused housing program on Saturdays. The role supports residents, monitors health and safety, and helps maintain program operations in a compassionate setting.

Requirements include HS/GED; CPR/First Aid and a valid driver’s license. Preference for 3–5 years in social services and experience in addictions or mental health treatment.

Qualifications

• HS/GED; 3-5 years' experience in social services; experience in addictions or mental health treatment
• Preferred: Associate's Degree; 5+ years' experience in social services; experience in addictions or mental health treatment
• Required License/Certification: CPR/First Aid, Driver's License

Responsibilities

• Oversee house operations and ensure safe and efficient operations; report any safety/maintenance concerns
• Provide clients with support to maintain progress on treatment goals
• Plan and facilitate client participation in meaningful activity, both on-site and in the community, including recovery
• Facilitate on-site group meetings and provide coaching to residents to maintain recovery
• Monitor and document medications taken by clients
• Provide crisis management to clients as needed; document incidents according to policy and procedure
• Maintain client documentation and complete all shift communication
• Monitor client whereabouts and activities; conduct regular checks of program environment
• Review client appointments and communicate with treatment team as needed
• Ensure house chores are completed
• Perform room inspections
• Assist with client programming as needed
• Ensure that household supplies are available
• Perform various administrative tasks as needed
• Transport clients as needed to meet program needs
• Assist in preparing meals as needed
