Job summary

SOME (So Others Might Eat) seeks a Residential Assistant for Kirwan House in NW Washington, DC to monitor residents’ health and safety, and support program operations. The role runs Monday–Friday, 4:00 pm–12:00 am (40 hours/week) in a safety-sensitive residential setting.

Requirements include HS/GED and 3–5 years in social services, with preferred Associate's Degree and 5+ years’ experience in the field; CPR/First Aid certification is required. A valid driver’s license is preferred.

Qualifications

• HS/GED required; 3–5 years in social services.
• Preferred: Associate's Degree; 5+ years in social services.
• CPR/First Aid certification required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee house operations and ensure safe, efficient operations.
• Provide clients with support to maintain treatment goals.
• Plan and facilitate client participation in activities on-site and in the community.
• Facilitate on-site group meetings and coaching to residents.
• Monitor and document medications and incidents per policy.
• Maintain client documentation and shift communications.
• Monitor whereabouts, conduct checks, and coordinate with treatment team.
• Ensure household supplies, perform room inspections, and assist programming.
• Transport clients as needed and assist with meals.
