Job summary

Rolling Hills Retirement Community in Commerce Township, MI is seeking a Relief Cook to step in on Saturdays and Sundays to ensure residents enjoy the same high quality dining experience. Working in our scratch-based kitchen, you’ll prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner, ensuring meals are safely cooked, visually appealing, and portioned to resident preferences.

You’ll build positive relationships with residents and team members in a welcoming atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Available to work Saturdays and Sundays, at least 8 hours per day.
• Able to read, speak and understand basic English.
• Experience in kitchen preparation and cooking preferred.
• Secure food handler permits as required within two weeks of start date.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present high-quality dishes by cooking proteins and vegetables with broiling, grilling, frying and sautéing; ensure plates look appealing.
• Contribute ideas during meetings and stay attentive on the service line during meal hours.
• Open and close tasks for each shift; assist teammates to keep a clean, safe kitchen.
• Keep stations stocked and organized; refresh pantry items and monitor refrigeration.
• Maintain sanitary kitchen environments; clean work areas and check temperatures regularly.
