Oceans Behavioral Hospital Greater New Orleans is dedicated to helping adults and seniors manage anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges through inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care.

The Registered Nurse will lead milieu management, direct nursing staff, and ensure high standards of nursing practice in line with policy, Joint Commission standards, and performance improvement goals. This is a weekend-only, part-time role on site.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
• Identifies client risk levels and discharge planning; initiates crisis interventions as needed.
• Demonstrates knowledge of psychiatric disorders; applies appropriate nursing interventions.
• Administers medications safely; educates on prescribed meds; monitors for adverse reactions.
• Maintains professional reporting and documentation per policies and regulations.
• Transcribes and implements physician orders; documents care and progress thoroughly.
