Job summary

Lutheran Health Network is seeking a Phlebotomist to support accurate laboratory testing through proper blood collection. This role emphasizes patient identification, timely specimen collection, and adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities include venipuncture, labeling at bedside, transporting specimens, and maintaining equipment. The position is Full Time (36 hours weekly) with Fri/Sat/Sun shifts and includes a sign-on bonus and weekend premium.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of phlebotomy experience required.
• Proficient venipuncture and specimen collection.
• Knowledge of patient identification and specimen labeling.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and capillary blood collection (finger and heel sticks) in accordance with policies to ensure accurate sample collection.
• Ensures positive patient identification by using two patient identifiers and bedside labeling to prevent errors.
• Prepares, packages, and transports specimens to the lab while maintaining sample integrity and safety.
• Explains procedures to patients, providing reassurance and addressing concerns for a positive experience.
• Maintains phlebotomy equipment and workspace in compliance with safety standards.
• Documents patient and specimen information in the lab system accurately.
• Collects timed specimens as ordered and prioritizes tasks to meet clinical needs.
• Collaborates with healthcare team to resolve collection challenges and communicate specimen status.
• Adheres to safety requirements and regulatory standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains regular attendance.
