Job summary

Western State Hospital is seeking part-time Psychiatric Care Technicians to work 8/12-hour shifts on weekends or 8-hour shifts in late afternoon/evening. Minimum 64 hours per month with holiday hours.

You will work under licensed staff, providing safe, therapeutic care and supporting recovery-focused treatment plans. Responsibilities include vital signs, ADLs, meals, observation, and de-escalation in a patient-centered environment within a 24/7 psychiatric hospital.

Qualifications

• Ability to provide direct psychiatric patient care under supervision.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff and patients.
• Ability to work in a secure environment with individuals in acute illness.
• Follow instructions and report observations to licensed staff promptly.
• Maintain knowledge of recovery-informed care and de-escalation techniques.

Responsibilities

• Provide recovery-oriented direct care in a hospital setting.
• Monitor patients, assist with ADLs, meals, and observation.
• Support treatment plans and groups with staff supervision.
• Utilize de-escalation techniques to manage behavior and milieu.
