UPMC is seeking a dedicated Patient Care Technician to support nursing staff by providing patient care, assisting with procedures, and helping with activities of daily living. You will perform core nursing assistant tasks such as vital signs, I&O, and specimen collection, and assist with basic therapies as directed by the RN.

The full-time weekend option requires availability for 7am–7pm on Saturdays and Sundays, or 7pm–7am Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday, with holiday coverage on

Responsabilidades

• Provides patient care including assisting with patient procedures and activities of daily living. Assists with physical, respiratory and cardiopulmonary therapies. Provides feedback to the RN regarding patient care and reports changes in patient status.
• Performs UPMC nursing core nursing assistant responsibilities (blood glucose, weights, vital signs, I&O, specimen collections and Foley care) AND at least four of the following BU identified tasks: phlebotomy, 12 lead EKG, simple dressing, Foley catheter removal, point of care testing, bladder scan, straight catheter, or IV catheter removal.
• Assures equipment malfunctions are reported to the appropriate department. Establishes communication with other departments. Maintains professional relationships. Participates in universal unit activities.
• Constructively receives feedback and direction. Identifies learning needs to the unit director. Plans and prioritizes activities; participates in self-review.
• Provides instruction to patients and their families under the direction of the RN. May apply, monitor and remove patient restraints as per protocol.
• Demonstrates clear communication with health care team. Supports safety in workplace. Builds productive relationships; demonstrates accountability, enthusiasm, motivation and commitment to patients and colleagues.
• Adheres to policies and procedures related to patient care and safety. Supports department initiatives.
• Documents in the medical record and completes department clerical tasks. Maintains competency in nursing core duties including ADLs and point of care testing.
• Access to medications is limited to distribution to the nurse. Achieves patient care competencies and may perform advanced skills as needed.
