Job summary

Banner Desert Medical Center/Banner Children’s in Mesa, AZ is seeking a Surgical Technologist for weekend shifts (Saturday-Sunday, 6:40A-7:10pm) with holiday coverage and no on-call requirements. The role involves scrubbing on at least two surgical specialties, preparing instruments, and supporting OR turnover with high standards of aseptic technique.

Qualifications include a High school diploma/GED, BLS certification, and either CST credentials or 2–3 years of experience in surgical technology,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Certified as a surgical technologist OR two to three years of experience in a surgical technologist role; registration with State Regulatory Agency if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Scrub and provide instruments, sutures, and other sterile supplies during surgery.
• Prepare for procedures by pulling instruments and ensuring working order; review case carts.
• Anticipate surgeon needs, pass instruments, and maintain competency in at least two surgical specialties.
• Follow aseptic technique and universal precautions; dispose of sharps and prep instruments for cleaning.
• Assist with OR turnover, stocking, replenishing supplies, and cleaning operating rooms.
• Participate in or lead training/orientation of staff and students as assigned.
• Provide potential business support to the department and adhere to safety protocols.
